Non-Profit Receives Good News from the Internet
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.–(EMWNews)–My Own Business, Inc. (MOBI) today announced that during the third week
of June its web site received its 10,000,000th
visitor since going live in 2001.
“This is a significant landmark in the growth
of My Own Business,” William Topaz, MOBI
President and CEO, stated. “Our organization
has worked hard for many years to establish its credibility and worth.
This is well-earned validation of the energy and efforts of our Chairman
and Founder, Phil Holland, the Board of Trustees, and countless staff
and volunteers.”
In addition to receiving its 10 millionth visitor, the web site is
currently receiving almost 200,000 unique visitors each month. “At
this rate,” Topaz said, “My
Own Business should receive its next 10 million visitors in less than
half the time it took to reach the first 10 million.”
Topaz also pointed out that searching any major internet search engine
with the phrase “How to start a business”
will return www.myownbusiness.org
among the top listings, usually #1, out of tens of millions of results.
My Own Business, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to
helping people succeed in starting
a business. It publishes and distributes –
for no charge – educational coursework that
focuses on the entrepreneur who wants to start his or her own business,
and the individual who has an established small business and would like
to see that business grow and expand. Individual sessions focus on
topics ranging from writing a Business
Plan to getting a business
loan to opening a home-based
business and much more.
Coursework is available online or in a classroom setting and has been
prepared by successful entrepreneurs and business owners who also point
out common, avoidable mistakes. The course includes Business
Plan templates for students to complete as they progress through the
14 sessions of basic disciplines. The goal of My Own Business, Inc. is
to sustain and support the important dynamic economic contributions of
small businesses by helping entrepreneurs gain valuable knowledge,
resulting in the foundation for successful business ventures. The
organization seeks to support a continued high level of creation of new
and small firms in all sectors of the economy by all segments of
society. Small businesses represent more than 99 percent of all U.S.
employers, employ 51 percent of private-sector workers, and provide
about 75 percent of net new jobs. Small businesses spend about $1.5
trillion in annual payroll alone.
To reach its goals, My Own Business, Inc. also partners with government
agencies, other non-profit organizations, donor foundations, and
companies in the private sector, such as the Small Business
Administration, the World Bank, SCORE, Rotary International and Cisco
Systems.
My Own Business Inc. was founded by Phil Holland, who was also the
founder of YumYum Donut Shops, the largest independently held donut
chain in the United States. He launched the original course in response
to the 1992 riots in Los Angeles to share his expertise and experience
in creating successful entrepreneurial businesses with the people whose
neighborhoods most required rebuilding and local enterprise.
