Paul B. Harding of Personal Injury Law Firm Martin, Harding & Mazzotti Donates $5,000 Worth of CPR Equipment

Paul B. Harding, Managing Partner of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP of Albany, NY donated $5,000 in CPR equipment to Melissa Elwell of the Vermont Rescue Squad.

Albany, NY (EMWNews) July 24, 2008 — Paul B. Harding, Managing Partner of the Albany, NY-based personal injury law firm Martin, Harding & Mazzotti donated $5,000 in CPR equipment to Melissa Elwell. Elwell is a lawyer, professor, EMT and is the Assistant Medical Examiner in Vermont who is affiliated with Vermont’s Rescue Squad.

Paul Harding’s $5,000 donation of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and teaching materials includes a computer, projector and a family of mannequins and face masks. These materials are critical to teach groups and individuals CPR at a reduced cost.

getting training myself and learning about how often it can be used in so many situations really showed me just how important these classes are to the overall safety of our community.

As an instructor for the last 11 years, Elwell has taught CPR to over 4,000 people including firefighters, police officers, clubs, The Boy and Girl Scouts, and the Vermont State Fire School Summer Program.

According to the American Heart Association, about 75 to 80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home and effective CPR can double or triple survival rates and makes a tremendous difference between life and death. Those statistics motivate Elwell to keep training costs down for participants in order to bring this critical, life-saving training to as many participants as she can. Harding’s donation helps to make this possible.

“It’s of tremendous importance to me and my firm to give back to the community where and whenever possible. Supporting safety and training programs allows us to bring life-saving initiatives to larger populations, helping more people than we could on our own.”

Harding and Elwell have been friends since attending law school together. Paul realized the importance of CPR while learning it first-hand when attending a class at the Bennington Rescue Squad on June 17th.

Harding continues, “getting training myself and learning about how often it can be used in so many situations really showed me just how important these classes are to the overall safety of our community.”
