Dato Colonel Aaron Tan Honoured with Meritorious Service Medal for Lifesaving Aid and Support in Perlis

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Jul 23, 2025 (EMWNews.com) – In a prestigious ceremony held on Saturday, 19 July 2025, at Hotel AnCasa Kuala Lumpur, the President of St. John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) and Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, together with Chairman of SJAM, YBhg. Dato’ Lai See Ming, honoured outstanding service and commitment to community health and youth development.

Dato Colonel Aaron Tan Choong Han, a distinguished volunteer and philanthropist, was awarded the Category 5 – Meritorious Service Medal by Governor-General Dato’ Lai See Ming of St. John Ambulance Malaysia.

This national recognition celebrates Dato Colonel Aaron’s unwavering dedication and philanthropic contributions to the State of Perlis. Among his notable donations include:

• Three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) valued at RM30,000, now installed at strategic public locations:

  • KTM Arau Station

  • Kuala Perlis Ferry Terminal

  • Perlis State Secretariat Office

• A patient bed for the Tengku Fauziah Hospital, improving care for patients in need.

• A brand-new ambulance for St. John Ambulance Malaysia, Perlis, enabling expanded emergency medical services to benefit the entire state.

In addition to his lifesaving donations, Dato Colonel Aaron Tan has made significant contributions to youth development through ongoing support for St. John Ambulance Malaysia’s initiatives and volunteer programs in Perlis.

His exemplary service embodies the spirit of community leadership and compassion, setting a high standard for civic responsibility and humanitarian action in Malaysia.
