Tableau Software Announces General Availability of Tableau 4.0

Coca-Cola Enterprises and Yale University benefit from the company's new

Desktop and Server visual analysis applications.

    SEATTLE, Aug. 11 /EMWNews/ -- Tableau Software

(http://www.tableausoftware.com), the global leader in fast analytics and

visualization software, today announced the general availability of Tableau

4.0, the next generation of its Tableau Desktop

(http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/desktop) and Tableau Server

(http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/server) products. Customers such

as Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) and Yale University are among the first to

experience the benefits of this release. Major new features include

one-click analytical map creation, usability enhancements and capabilities

to embed and share live Tableau views with other applications such as Web

applications, intranets and documents. Tableau 4.0 is available for

download at http://www.tableausoftware.com/trial.

CCE, a participant in the Tableau 4.0 beta program, uses the software

to analyze sales forecasting and forecasting accuracy data for its

production plants nationwide. With Tableau's granular visual analysis and

flexible reporting capabilities, CCE is able to quickly identify products,

geographic regions and specific accounts that are underperforming and more

easily reach high-level conclusions about its forecasting processes.

Tableau gives the company rapid visibility into problem areas across

categories, business units, channels, products and accounts and enables

course corrections to be made much earlier in the planning process than

ever before, resulting in a significant increase in revenue.

"In our business, accurately analyzing and forecasting sales quantities

can directly translate into increased revenue, so Tableau's ability to

quickly identify forecasting errors through easily understandable visual

representations of our data has been invaluable to us," said Andy Kriebel,

manager of forecasting and planning at Coca-Cola Enterprises. "To date,

we're already expecting a 3 percent increase in our forecasting accuracy,

which will result in more than $100 million in annual savings, and we

anticipate that Tableau 4.0 will enable us to achieve similar cost savings

in years to come. Tableau 4.0's new usability features, including the

addition of personalized views and visual representations, make the

analysis and sharing of our data across the organization even easier and

more streamlined than before. This lets us spend more time on data

discovery and less time trying to organize and manage our workbooks."

Yale University is implementing Tableau Desktop and Server to help

manage its $3.5-billion Yale Tomorrow capital campaign. The University's

development office desired an improved way to gain real-time access to

information about the campaign from multiple sources. Tableau 4.0's new

integration features, combined with its already powerful data analytics

capabilities, made it an obvious choice. Now, administrators can create

easy-to-understand reports quickly, and the mapping capabilities enable

regional development officers to gain new insights into performance by

location. In the future, the development office plans to build a SharePoint

portal that includes embedded visualizations from Tableau to enable the

entire development staff and its hundreds of alumni volunteers to benefit

from real-time access to data.

In addition, The Yale Police Department and Campus Security office are

utilizing the mapping capabilities of Tableau to easily overlay incidence

report data on maps.

"Previously, our reports were difficult to generate and contained no

graphical representations of our data, which made it difficult to provide

useful insights into how to improve our operations," said Marcia Schels,

director of enterprise systems for the office of development and the office

of the secretary at Yale University. "We expect that Tableau 4.0 will help

our development office's campaign generate more results in less time.

Additionally, with Tableau 4.0, our public safety officers will be able to

maximize their resources while providing an even safer environment on

campus."

Tableau 4.0, which was announced on July 21, 2008 during the company's

sold-out Customer Conference, combines powerful visual analysis

capabilities with the ability to easily share data findings throughout an

organization. Enhancements include:

-- Mapping: Tableau 4.0 immediately recognizes geographic data and

enables users to create meaningful analytic maps with just one mouse click.

-- Usability: Visual cues and representations, custom shapes and

personalized views make the data discovery and exploration process even

easier and more intuitive for users.

-- Sharing/Embedding: Tableau 4.0 allows users to embed visualizations

with real-time data into Web applications, Web sites and portals (and,

conversely, embed Web applications into Tableau), enabling people to see

their data where they're most likely to use it.

"Since debuting Tableau 4.0 at our first-ever Customer Conference in

July, the buzz around this release has been incredible," said Christian

Chabot, CEO of Tableau Software. "We're excited to be able to deliver a

product that incorporates so many of the features our customers have been

asking for, and we look forward to hearing how they're able to put these

enhancements to use in their day-to-day business processes."
