VIASPACE Subsidiary Signs Deal With OEM to Provide Fuel Cell Cartridges and Valves

PASADENA, Calif., July 15 /EMWNews-FirstCall/ -- VIASPACE Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: VSPC), announced today that its Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC) subsidiary has signed an agreement to provide methanol fuel cell cartridges and interface valves to a major portable electronics OEM. The application is an electronic device powered by a direct methanol fuel cell instead of a battery. The name of the OEM was not revealed. VIASPACE CEO Dr. Carl Kukkonen stated, "We are delighted with this opportunity to provide both cartridges and interface valves to this OEM. We are teamed with our manufacturing partner, the Sato Group of Japan on this project, and I'm confident that we will meet the milestones and keep our customer's development project on schedule." Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation produces disposable fuel cartridges that provide the energy source for portable electronics powered by fuel cells. Many OEMs have demonstrated notebook computers, mobile phones and other portable devices powered by direct methanol fuel cells, and production plans have been announced for as early as 2009.
