Advantage for Analysts Sees Competitive Pressure Increasing for Renewable Energy Developers

company, recently published an article in the July 2008 edition of North

American Wind Power entitled “Private Equity Re-Sets

The Performance Bar” citing how the ascending influence of Private

Equity in the Renewable Energy Industry will cause Developers to increase

their financial sophistication or lose their competitive edge.

The authors, Richard Homich and Rajiv Advani, highlight how

“competitiveness (for Developers) will be defined by shareholder returns,

as higher returns attract capital and other resources and opportunities.

However, managing to shareholder returns requires a shift from a

project-based to a portfolio-based perspective.”

This shift will require developers to strengthen their financial

capabilities to structure tax equity

partnership financing deals within the context of a portfolio, more

accurately track performance of existing deals and generate higher returns
