I truly believe that success in life is largely influenced by putting oneself in situations that provide unique opportunities and then taking advantage of those opportunities. Recently I was put forward by my professor for the opportunity of a lifetime! I have been selected to attend the International Scholar Laureate Program in Australia this May. When Charlie got the golden ticket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it was a dream that turned into a reality. I believe that this opportunity is my is GOLDEN TICKET, but like Charlie I will need the help of others to make this opportunity a reality……
Who Am I?
My name is Aly. I’m currently a full time 2nd year business student at Glendale Community College in Arizona. I am an active member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Life would be easier if we could all start out as “Generals”. My lot in life at this point is to be a “private” cleaning out the latrines. I speak of this in a literal sense because I pick up dog poop for my part time job. The leadership opportunities are minimal, but I know that I have these qualities because of the path that I have set my sights upon.
The goal I have set for myself is to become a viable and ethical businesswoman in a global society. For now, I will continue to pay my dues in the trenches until I am able to climb up to the next section of road on my path to success. With your help to make this opportunity a reality, I will be one step closer to realizing my goals.
The Program
I will get a first-hand look at the emerging success story of the Asia Pacific region while visiting Melbourne and Sydney. I’ll gain a global business perspective, attend entrepreneurship panels, visit one of the country’s most successful companies, network with local business school students and see how marketing, engagement, entrepreneurship, and management works in this vibrant culture. Breakdown of Costs
The total cost of the program is $5,190 which doesn’t include airfare. Through scholarships and using the last of my savings here’s what I still need with your generous donations:
Airfare: $1,500
Program: $2,500
The airfare needs to be purchased by April 15th and the cost changes daily. The airfare is my most urgent need. The program cost needs to be completed by May 15th.
What I will take from this experience….
This opportunity to step onto the world stage will allow me to network and create business relationships that I will be able to maintain for the future. My hope is that this opportunity will also help me to one day pay it forward for the next person who has their sights set on achieving their personal and professional goals.
