Anganwadi Habba to Empower Parents in Early Childhood Education

Bengaluru, Karnataka Feb 10, 2025 (EMWNews.com) – More than 100 parents of children enrolled in nine Anganwadis from Gopalapuram, V.V. Giri Colony, and Valluvarpuram gathered to celebrate Anganwadi Habba–an event designed to promote the importance of Early Childhood Education. Including Anganwadi teachers (AWTs), helpers, community leaders, ICDS functionaries, and representatives of NGOs, the gathering saw the participation of nearly 200 people, underscoring a collective commitment to ensuring quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).

The event, organized by Makkala Jagriti, a Bangalore-based organization working for quality education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds in collaboration with in collaboration with R Gundurao Foundation, aimed to empower parents with the knowledge and skills to actively support their children’s early learning journey. 

The event featured an interactive ECCE showcase, covering key aspects of early childhood development and the critical role of parents and the community in preschool education. Parents and children enthusiastically engaged with learning stalls, while Anganwadi children delighted the audience with vibrant dance performances. 

A key highlight was a demonstration by parents from V.V. Giri Colony, showcasing simple yet impactful ways to support children’s early learning at home, emphasizing that education begins within the household.

Adding depth to the discussions, a panel of experts shared insights on child development, nutrition, and the significance of ECCE with experts, including Dr. Chaithra (Child Mental Health Specialist), Dr. Satyavati (Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre), Dr.Vimochana, Former Deputy Director- Maternal and Child Health and Former State level Advisor for Child Health under National Health Mission, Karnataka, a parent and a lead mother Manjula, Supervisors Rashmi, and Dakshayini. 

Mr. Ashok, Child Development Project Officer – State Project ICDS, addressed the gathering, urging parents to leverage Anganwadi services for their children’s early development. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, recognizing the invaluable contributions of Anganwadi teachers and helpers for their dedication and service to early childhood education.
