Callinan Activity Update

    VANCOUVER, July 22 /EMWNews/ - Callinan Mines (CAA:TSX.V,

CCNMF:OTCBB) wishes to provide the following update concerning its ongoing

exploration and development activities in the provinces of Manitoba and

British Columbia.

    Coles Creek, BC

    ---------------

Crews have been mobilized to the company's Coles Creek Project near

Houston, British Columbia to begin a summer drill program. The program will

target both the existing porphyry hosted copper-molybdenum mineralization

and the newly discovered silver-zinc-lead mineralization hosted in a

volcano-sedimentary flow. The company will conduct deep drilling on the

apparent basin-like feature. "It's possible that the silver-zinc-lead

hosted in the volcanics represents an enrichment from a more concentrated

system further down," explained Vic Sidic, the company's Field Chief. "It

could be part of the same phenomenon that is enriching the porphyry system.

We're looking forward to drilling the deep holes to find out."

    Cal Claims

    ----------

Preliminary results from the analysis of the recoverability of copper

and nickel from Callinan's wholly owned Cal Claims project have been

described as "very encouraging" by Process Analytical Laboratories. A

flotation test showed very little loss of value, magnetic separation and

ashing of graphite indicates that a commercial grade copper-nickel-cobalt

concentrate is possible. A detailed metallurgical study has been

commissioned to refine and optimize the metal recovery, using material

recovered from the 2007 Cal Claims drill program.

The Cal Claims are located in an area between Snow Lake and Thompson,

Manitoba. Callinan completed a five-hole drill program in 2007 returning

assays of 0.33 to 1.19% copper, 0.12 to 0.28% nickel, and up to 0.03%

cobalt over widths ranging from 5.7 to 113.9 metres. (See company news

release July 31st, 2007 for full results.)

Subject to receiving encouraging results from the metallurgical

testing, Callinan will continue exploration of the project with the

intention of producing an NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate.

    Winter Programs

    ---------------

Processing of drill core from winter programs in Fox River, The Pine

Project, Phillips Lake and Snow Lake, Manitoba are ongoing. Assays will be

published when available.

A geochemical mobile metal ion (MMI) survey will be conducted on the

Fox River claims to further examine areas of interest isolated by VTEM

survey.

On Behalf of the Board of Directors,

    Mike Muzylowski

Callinan's exploration activities are being conducted under the
