Miami Mayor Manuel Diaz to Address the National Press Club

    WASHINGTON, July 29 /EMWNews/ -- Miami Mayor Manny Diaz,

the newly seated president of the United States Conference of Mayors, will

deliver an address at the National Press Club on Monday, Aug. 4.



    Diaz will discuss his challenge to the next president of the United

States to "invest in solutions to the growing problems that threaten

America's cities and metropolitan area."



    Diaz, a lawyer who was born in Cuba, had never held public office when

he ran for mayor in 2001 on a promise to operate the city more like a

business. He was re-elected in 2005 and was sworn in as president of the

Conference of Mayors in June 2008.







    The speakers' luncheon begins promptly at 12:30 p.m. in the Ballroom at

the National Press Club. Remarks start at 1 p.m., followed by a
