Priva’s Cleared(R) Security Platform Achieves SAFETY Act Designation from Department of Homeland Security

2008-07-16 07:30:00

CHICAGO–(EMWNews)–Priva Technologies, Inc. says the Department of Homeland Security [DHS]

has designated its Cleared®

Security Platform as a Developmental Testing and Evaluation [DT&E]

technology under the SAFETY Act of 2002.

The Cleared platform, which is being deployed at undisclosed airports,

validates credentials of airport employees through the use of high

tech identification badges. The platform incorporates the only

commercially-available, biometrically-enabled microchip with the

Government’s FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification, according to Jeff

Minushkin, Priva’s Chairman and CEO.

The DT&E designation further underscores the importance of our

technology, Minushkin says, noting that the designation was achieved

only after an extensive review by the DHS to determine the efficacy of

the technology.

SAFETY Act designation provides Priva and the end users of its

ClearedBadgeTM and ClearedKeyTM

with important liability protections that enhance the prospects for

broad-based distribution and usage of the technology at airports in a

timely fashion, Minushkin noted.

The Department of Homeland Security’s web site dedicated to the law [www.safetyact.gov]

notes that the goal of the SAFETY [Support

Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies]

Act is to encourage the development and deployment of new and innovative

anti-terrorism products and services by providing liability protections.
