SEPTA Broad Street Line Service Set to Take Fans to the ‘Diamond’ This Weekend
Special Sports Express Service the Best Way to Scheduled Phillies/Pirates Games and Neil Diamond Concerts PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 8 /EMWNews/ -- Whether you're heading to watch the Phillies crank hits over the wall, or hear the melodic hits of a musical sensation, SEPTA will provide special service to the events this weekend at the Sports Complex with ease and convenience avoiding the expected traffic congestion. On Friday, August 8, at 7:05 p.m., the Phillies meet on the baseball diamond against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citizens Bank Park. Three extra Broad Street Line express trains will operate from Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:08 p.m., 6:18 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. en route to Pattison Station and the Sports Complex. Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station in South Philadelphia. The express trip from City Hall takes only about eight minutes. Local trains take only 11 minutes to travel to the Sports Complex from City Hall. After the events, local and express trains will be standing by to provide northbound service to Fern Rock. On Saturday, August 9, the Phillies begin the second of their three game series with the Pirates at the Park with a 7:05 p.m. game. Across Packer Avenue legendary vocalist Neil Diamond is scheduled to perform at the Wachovia Center at 8 p.m. Extra Broad Street Line express trains will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center at 6:08, 6:18, 6:28, and 7:08 p.m. The Phillies close-out their weekend home stand against the Pirates on Sunday, August 10, at Citizens Bank Park with a 1:35 p.m. contest. Broad Street Line Sports Express service will depart Fern Rock en route to the Sports Complex at 12:28, 12:38, and 12:48 p.m. Later in the evening, extra Broad Street Line express service will leave Fern Rock at 7:08 p.m. for the 8 p.m. Neil Diamond concert at the Wachovia Center.
