Shopzilla Launches ‘Shop-Over’ Boutique — An Alternative to Extreme Make-Overs
Survey Reveals: Women Want Change Without the Pain
LOS ANGELES, CA–(EMWNews – July 28, 2008) – We may all want a J.Lo-esque curvy
derriere, Eva Longoria-like lustrous locks or Angelina Jolie-inspired big
beautiful eyes, but today’s women want those changes without the pain. A
new study by leading shopping search site Shopzilla (www.shopzilla.com)
shows that a whopping 88% of women want to change their appearance, but
only 39% have ever considered cosmetic surgery. In response, Shopzilla has
created a new, one-stop solution
‘Shop-Over’ boutique loaded with all the products a woman needs to
totally ‘transform’ herself, without a nip or tuck to body or wallet.
A Change is as Good as a Rest…
Women simply want to feel ‘refreshed’ (52%), ‘sexy’ (38%), and get a dose
of ‘renewed energy’ (25%). While slowing down the aging process is the
main motivator for women wanting to change the way they look (74%), a large
percentage (41%) simply want to make temporary physical alterations,
usually after a big life change like having a baby or getting a divorce.
And, not surprisingly, they are not interested in spending big bucks to do
it. Forty-three percent would spend up to $50 while only 10.8% would pay
more than $1,000 for self improvement.
Sensible Shop-Over Vs. Extreme Make-Over
Here are the seven things women say they most want to change about
themselves, and the Shopzilla ‘Sensible Shop-Over’ way they can achieve it:
1. A smaller waist is the most highly desired improvement for women:
— Instead of spending $5,264 for a tummy tuck* or $2,982 for liposuction,
try a super slimmer for under $50.
2. Almost 40% (39%) of women want longer, thicker hair:
— Instead of paying hundreds or thousands at the salon, get an enviable
mane with do-it-yourself extensions.
3. More than a third (37%) of the women out there crave sun-kissed, tanner
skin:
— Instead of spending the money and risking the health impact of tanning
beds, we’ve got tons of options under $10. Light, medium, dark — cream,
gel, or spray, the choice is yours.
4. Fake eyelashes do wonders; enlarge your eyes and perk up your face:
— You can pay up to $1,400 for mink eyelash extensions in fancy salons, or
you can choose pairs starting under $2.00 a pop.
5. For the women out there who want a curvier derriere but are having no
luck on that Stairmaster, try a pair of padded panties:
— According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, butt implants
increased 62% from 2006 to 2007 (639 to 1,038). Demand is up, but with the
cost for the average surgery running a steep $4,722, it’s lucky women have
other options.
6. Get a sultry smile and take years off your face with full, pouty lips:
— Don’t spend the average $1,604 for a lip augmentation. Consider all the
plumping lip treatments out there — not to mention the power of a simple
swipe of gloss, which alone can create the illusion of fuller lips.
7. Get a bust boost with a water bra or other breast-enhancing lingerie:
— Nearly half a million (451,700) women opted for breast augmentation or
lifts in 2007 alone! Instead of shelling out thousands, try a gel bra or
other breast-enhancing bra. They’re a long way from yesterday’s Kleenex.
Shopzilla’s ‘Shop-Over’ boutique has the
right products to give women the drastic changes they want — each for
under $100 — a mere fraction of the cost of cosmetic procedures.
