The 1 Buildin’ – 7 Days of Summer (Fundrazr)

T1B (or The 1 Buildin’) is dedicated to run Disney Television Animation-produced cartoons that aired originally on the ABC Network through its Disney’s 1 Saturday Morning children’s block.

To most of those who haven’t been familiar with the block, Disney’s 1SM was the successor to both the iconic The Disney Afternoon block, which ran on television syndication from 1990 to 1997, and the traditional ABC Saturday Morning lineup, which began approximately on 1966.

This specialized lineup which debuted in the 1997-98 television season and continued until the 2001-02 season, was created in order to follow the Walt Disney Company’s takeover of the network in 1996.

With its famous catchphrase that identified the block “Five Hours of Summer”, 1SM incorporated three hours of cartoons like Disney’s 101 Dalmatians: The Series, reruns of The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, which originally ran on the network from 1988 to 1991 and even The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, which had been running on the ABC Saturday Morning lineup since 1986.

All of them along with its umbrella namesake show which included not only the following three shows:

Disney’s Doug
Disney’s Recess
Disney’s Pepper Ann
But also featured educational segments:

Manny the Uncanny
Great Minds Think for Themselves, hosted by Genie from Disney’s Aladdin, voiced by late Robin Williams
How Things Werk
The eponymous but controversial Mrs. Munger’s Class /Centerville
While 1SM hasn’t been at the same level as the Disney Afternoon, it gained considerable respect for its variety, content and quality, making it a cult favorite and has been considered as one of the last true Saturday Morning blocks that witnessed the Golden Age of mainstream animated television that lasted through the 80’s and the 90’s.

T1B is a Netflix-type Video-On-Demand (VOD) subscription service which consists of a selection of Disney’s 1 Saturday Morning programming as ORIGINALLY aired on the ABC Network with or without vintage commercials included:

Vision & Mission:

T1B is simply the perfect place for retro-Disney cartoon freaks in the world to rediscover their favorite 1 Saturday Morning-era shows in a way they originally witnessed, giving them the experience of feeling like they were watching TV in the past, but also the best vehicle to try to preserve at least part of Disney’s television culture for present and future generations.

T1B wants to be promoted as an educational and informational tool, although it has to set up as a business like any other. Nostalgic fans which grew up with those respectable cartoons can enjoy them again, however its main purpose is to bring children and young people to witness part of Disney’s animated golden days, like they’ve never seen it before.

Subscription Pricing:

You can access to watch the shows on The 1 Building by subscribing for just $5.00 a month. However, you can enjoy them in a 7-day free trial.

T1B Fundraising & Legal FAQs:

1. Why is T1B is raising $106,549 up front?

Since I’m starting this project from scratch, first of all I had to get some legal advice, being that at this moment I don’t have the capital to cover the mentioned fees, not to mention that the television program rights are legally owned by Disney and Warner Bros.

So it was legally recommended to me launching this fundraising campaign to the community with the purpose of helping meet my capital needs.

2. Why is T1B is trying to acquire those programs straight from Disney and WB, wouldn’t be better request donations of them from private TV show collectors, television archive collection from a university, organization and /or museum?

Excellent question. It would be easier looking for donations, however regardless of that, as I mentioned before Disney and WB themselves are the copyright owners of such libraries.

3. What about seeking additional permission from the owners of those TV commercials included in those shows?

Honestly I’m not sure about who are its holders: the production companies who made them or the owners of the products and services. Aside from this, it needs permission from either of them.

4. Can you really make $106,549?

I hope that you guys, the late 90’s Millennials who wants to relive the 1 Saturday Morning experience as it originally was, will bring on with a small, moderate or huge donation through this campaign.

However, all the perks mentioned above will be rewarded to those who contribute $800 or more.

Everyone will be pleased when T1B will bring part of Disney’s television history if you help me reach my goal.

Target Release Date:

I hope T1B will be launched on 2017, just in time to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Disney’s 1 Saturday Morning block.
