Sandbank, Dunoon, Scotland (EMWNews) August 10, 2008 — Ronnie Ford the celebrated Scottish artist, noted for his unique style of textured painting which adds a three dimensional aspect to his work, announces his new 080808 art collections timed to coincide with this auspicious date.

Ronnie spent fifteen years teaching art in the Far East and was influenced greatly by Chinese culture and various different aspects of their philosophy including the ancient art of Feng Shui developed over 3,000 years ago in China to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

these ideas seemed to come together around the date and the focus on the Olympic games. It got me thinking about my work and how to organise my collections around these powerful concepts, which after all were such an influence on their creation in the first place

In Chinese culture gentle wind (Feng) and clear water (Shui) are associated with good harvest and good health

The Feng Shui five elements Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water interact in certain ways, defined as the Productive and Destructive cycles and each Feng Shui element is represented by a specific colour. Colour is the easiest way to use the five elements principle to bring more harmony into your space with Feng Shui.

The 080808 collections reflect these ancient principles and combine colour and light in strong combinations to build powerful positive energy.

The number eight is also hugely significant, especially in confluence with today’s’ date, the eighth day of the eighth month of the eighth year. In Chinese culture, number eight is precious, considered lucky and to confer great fortune or prosperity. “Eight” in Chinese sounds similar to the word which means “fortune”, “prosper” or “wealth” and in regional dialects the words for “eight” and “fortune” are also similar.

Understandably, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China are scheduled to open today, 8/8/08 (August 8, 2008) at 8:08:08 p.m presumably due to the same influence.

According to Ronnie Ford, “these ideas seemed to come together around the date and the focus on the Olympic games. It got me thinking about my work and how to organise my collections around these powerful concepts, which after all were such an influence on their creation in the first place”.

Almost in an instant, as if fated, the Ronnie Ford 080808 collections were born.

Ronnie has selected 8 prints for each 080808 Art collection, available in various sizes, all Giclée printed to deliver a fully textured high quality canvas print which can be framed or simply hung as is.

These 080808 collections of eight pieces are ideal for home or office space and can be acquired as a group of eight or built-up print by print into a collection.
