VMS Partners With Mercom Capital Group to Secure Nonprofit’s Central Texas Location

N.J., is pleased to announce that it has teamed with its Austin, TX based

to provide Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas with a video

surveillance system. Through its relationship with Mercom, VMS discovered

the nonprofit recently suffered a string of thefts and acts of vandalism.

To help Big Brothers Big Sisters combat this rash of crime, VMS donated

eight cameras and a flagship Virtual Manager 2 DVR. The solution was

implemented in two phases, culminating this past weekend when VMS CEO Jason

Gonzalez and Director of Operations Kevin Sangirardi volunteered their time

to complete the project.

“For several years, our budget wouldn’t allow for increased security

measures beyond our existing alarm systems and lighting. Neither had

deterred the smash and grabs, which occurred even in daylight hours,” said

Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. “Mercom and VMS have been very

generous in providing a tool to us that we couldn’t otherwise afford, [one]

that allows us to feel some measure of control over our premises.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping children ages six to 16 reach

their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships

in the Austin area since 1971. Unfortunately, the Central Texas office is

located in an area where crime is a regular occurrence, and the Big

Brothers Big Sisters facility has not been immune from break-ins, vandalism

and theft.
