Antrim Energy Completes Drilling on the Fyne Field in UK North Sea

Antrim Energy Inc. (“the Company”) (TSX:AEN) (AIM:AEY), an international oil and gas exploration and production company, today reported that drilling operations have been completed on the Antrim-operated well 21/28a-9 on the Fyne Field (Antrim WI 75%) in the UK Central North Sea.

The multilateral 28a-9 well was drilled as planned with three legs, one pilot hole and two sidetracks into the Eocene Tay Sandstone. All three holes encountered significant oil columns with thick pay intervals. As planned, the third and final leg (21/28a-9y) contains the Tay Sandstone section that will be completed and tested. This section drilled approximately 52 ft True Vertical Depth (TVD) of net oil pay and 35 ft TVD of net gas pay in a 332 ft TVD hydrocarbon column. As designed, the 28a-9y well was drilled at a 60 degree angle penetrating approximately 109 ft Measured Depth (MD) of net oil pay and 74 ft MD of net gas pay.

Log analysis indicates that the Tay sandstones penetrated in all three legs of the well are very porous (average 33%). In addition, the reservoir sampling tool (Modular Formation Dynamics Tester) indicates that the sandstone reservoirs have high permeabilities generally in excess of 1000 mD. The Tay Sandstone previously tested at rates of up to 3,600 bopd of medium gravity (25 degrees API) oil from the Fyne discovery well (21/28a-2) in 1986.

“The Fyne drilling operation has been a tremendous success with the results from the drilling and logging program at the upper end of our pre-drill expectation of reservoir quality, reservoir thickness and reservoir continuity”, commented Stephen Greer, President and CEO.

The Fyne Field is on trend with several other Tay fields in the area, including the West Guillemot, Pict and Saxon developments. Fyne is also situated approximately 20 kilometres from existing infrastructure which provides production services for several fields in the area.

Completion and testing operations will start immediately with results expected from the testing program expected in April.
