Webster University Nationally Recognized as One of Top ‘Great Colleges to Work For’

    ST. LOUIS, July 22 /EMWNews/ -- The Chronicle of Higher

Education ranked Webster University in the top five of its "2008 Great

Colleges to Work For" list of national institutions with between 500 and

2,400 employees. The Chronicle is widely considered the most respected

publication serving the academic community.

    The national survey, conducted for the first time, ranked Webster

University in the top five in 14 categories, including: healthy

faculty-administration relations; professional/career development program;

job satisfaction; work-life balance (policies give employees the

flexibility to manage their personal lives); internal communications;

connection to institution and pride (employees have a strong sense of

loyalty to the institution); health insurance; supervisor or department

chair relationship; perception and confidence in fair treatment; respect

and appreciation; policies, resources and efficiency; engagement index (the

emotional connection employees have to an organization); 403b or 401k; and

life insurance.

    Additionally, Webster ranked high overall among such institutions as

Stanford, Emory, Duke and USC. Only seven institutions had scores better

than Webster University. More than 15,000 administrators, faculty members

and staff members at 89 colleges and universities responded to the survey.

Survey results will appear in a special academic workplace supplement to

this week's issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

    "Webster University has experienced many years of growth and

transformation, as first a local college and now an international

university," Webster President Neil J. George said. "I am proud that the

campus culture remains a warm, friendly and supportive environment in which

to work and to educate our students. It is an honor to be recognized

nationally among our peers for our efforts."
